#MeToo
A Design Campaign
This is a part of a
university project in response to the #toxicMasculinity, #MeToo and #TimesUp
movements. The brief was to create a digital campaign for Social Media and
share awareness around toxic masculine stereotypes and misogynistic views, and
how they affect all of us. It started as a series of moving posters for a
collective Instagram profile and has developed into a campaign consisted of a
webpage and other design materials.
The target audience for my design pieces has been teenage boys and young men in their twenties thus taking inspiration for the visual language from something that brings them together and allows free expression- the street culture and the arts. The colour palette consists of shades of blue- traditionally connected with the masculine, and representing responsibility, security and trust. The typeface is modern and conveys a sense of stability and power.
Symbols used in the project & their meanings:
a hand- empowerment, action, connection
a spinning wheel- the repetitiveness of the issues mentioned above; anyone can be affected
a knife- male domination
entangled legs and hands- we are all part of the problem

The university Instagram page
It's everywhere around us...
but
if we are aware of it, we can change it
and help ourselves and others.
